Chinese riot in Milan
Chinese have rioted in Milan, Italy, over a traffic fine. The riot got political with rioters flying Chinese flags. A video of the incident can be seen here. Thanks to Lyrt for the link.
Italian riot police have broken up a violent protest in Milan’s Chinatown by scores of Chinese immigrants.
About 10 police officers were injured and a similar number of Chinese people received hospital treatment.
The trouble began when a Chinese woman was fined for illegally transporting goods in a private vehicle.
More than 100 Chinese shopkeepers and members of their families, many waving the national flag, massed in the street claiming racial discrimination.
Baton charge
During the unrest, which lasted until nightfall, a car was overturned and the police carried out a baton charge. The woman was arrested and later admitted to hospital.
The Chinese immigrant community in Italy has grown very rapidly during the past 10 years.
Normally, they keep a very low profile and cause little trouble to the authorities.
According to official statistics, there are about 114,000 Chinese currently living in Italy, but the true figure is probably double this number because of widespread illegal immigration.
In Milan alone, the resident Chinese population has more than doubled to about 12,000 in about 10 years. Other cities with a large Chinese community include the capital, Rome, and Prato, in Tuscany, where Chinese workers are employed in the textile dyeing industry.
In Rome and Milan wholesale distributors of goods made in China occupy entire quarters of the two cities. It was the noise and traffic caused by these businesses which sparked off the rioting in Milan.

I wonder why Chinese can be aggressive and strong this much.
Do they all hold an appropriate visa?

I have not seen China town in Milan.
Is this around the south west of Duomo?
I join with all fair minded souls who wholeheartedly condemn the Italian authorities total lack of cultural awareness in their manner of handling this demonstration, thereby triggering the riot. These are Chinese, by God! Don’t the Italians have any tanks? (Though the officer in the third photo looks like he might pass for a reasonable fascimile.)
Ungrateful Asian immigrants are getting uppity across the globe. Western countries need to wake up and make a serious effort to rationalize their immigration policies.
The same could be said for immigrants from any region. Right now in America illegal Latin American Immigrants are demanding citizenship…that’s madness

sitwell_87,
They perform unfulfill services, pay taxes, obey the law, contribute to the economy. Plenty of land, plenty of jobs(last I checked, U.S. has one of the lowest, if not the lowest unemployment rate in the developed world.) So, why not? Because they are a hundred years too late?
Kjeff,
It’s cause they entered illegally, we would be rewarding them for breaking the law. I like immigrants, I think immigration is one of the things that has made America what it is today, I just think they should enter legally that’s all. I mean, what if some of these guys happened to be criminals back home? We should know that. Anyways this is a bit off the subject…guess that was kinda irrelevant.
The Chinese in Milan can’t be serious. They are a foreign community in Italy that flout Italian law, engage in organized crime, and then cause trouble for getting arrested or charged for breaking that law. What if Italians did that in China? There would be the devil to pay. The Chinese in Milan are really quite incredible. One could not blame the Italians for wanting to be rid of these lawless, hypocritical, ungrateful and unreasonable foreigners that abuse and deride the hospitality of the host country.

Don’t worry.
The Chinese are expelled by the Koreans.
China towns in the USA are changibg to Korea towns here and there.
They are closed world where a Jo Seung-hui is raised.
kjeff, by definition, illegal immigrants do not obey the law.
Not every Latin American immigrant, legal or illegal, is a boon to society. Not every one of them is employed. Some are full-time gangmembers, others on welfare.
Also, it is not a matter of being “100 years too late”, but of being the advance guard of the “Reconquista”.
dogbert,
Perhaps there’s a problem with a law which is not enforced, and that, in essence, allows slavery.
A classic argument… Yes, not everyone of them are going to be model citizens; there’ll criminals among them. I’ve heard about the welfare thing, but honestly, I’m not really sure how it can be done. Yes, there’ll be some financial burdens to the local and state government in term of education, health and welfare, but is it not possible that the tax, and moreover, the economy that these ‘illegal’ immigrants generated more than offset those burdens? Going back to the ‘bad’ illegal immigrants argument that you presented…I think I would say that for every criminal among them, there are 99 law-abiding, tax-paying ‘illegal’ immigrants who work twice harder and longer than I do, and make half as much. Yes, you could bring up stats that’d say something like, they have higher crime rate than that of the national average. But, I don’t think that the ‘national average’ works 70 hours week and makes fraction of the minimum wage. I think to essentialy say, “That’s the law,” is a bit irresponsible I think.
There are studies claiming to show illegal immigrants’ labor outweighs the social/economic costs of their presence, just as their are studies purporting to show the opposite. Who knows? My personal belief is that they are overall harming the labor market by doing work that “Americans” do not want to do for the price illegal immigrants accept.
Apart from that, gang violence is a real problem in the U.S. and it has been especially exacerbated by the presence of Central American immigrants. However hard the immigrant parents work, their children who are raised in America of course will not willingly accept their parents’ lot. For many, turning to criminal activity is their way to avoid that.
I will agree with you in that those who employ illegal immigrants should not use that as an excuse to pay them “slave wages” nor should their children be denied public education. Whether or not they should be in the U.S. at all, they are human beings and should be treated with compassion.
when white folks illegally entered north america, it wasn’t a problem for them, but it is a problem if someone else enter north american illegally.
latino and blacks didn’t invent gangs, white people did, “gangs of new york”
as jesus i advise you human to stop blaming each other for your issues and start taking personal responsibility for the world you’re creating. go and sin no more.
