Japanese Ambassador insulted at COEX gathering in Korea.

April 22nd, 2006 . by Matt

I have written about the insults that Ambassador Oshima has endured in Korea before, in my ‘Japanese Ambassador given a public dressing down by the South Korean Foreign Minister‘ post. Although that was disgusting, this really takes the cake in sheer insult. If I did not see it, I would not have believed it.

insult Oshima
“The resident Japanese Ambassador to Korea, Shotaro Oshima!”

insult Oshima
“Recently Japanese illegal trespassing on Dokdo (Takeshima) has been increasing frictions”

insult Oshima
“OK, lets quickly change the subject! Putting aside ‘Poktanju’ (note: Koreans call a mixture of beer and soju ‘Poktanju’ – bomb wine) for a moment. From the Ambassadors facial expression”

insult Oshima
“It seems like he does not like this Poktanju”

insult Oshima
“For him, the Poktanju”

insult Oshima
“Is like a flash and explosion of bubbles”

insult Oshima
“Like the moment of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima”

insult Oshima
“It resembles a mushroom cloud”

insult Oshima
“For this reason, we will call this ‘atomic bomb wine’!”

Unbelievable. I cannot believe such an open insult of the Japanese Ambassador and the Japanese people is tolerated, even in Korea.

See it on Youtube for yourself! (For people having trouble with Youtube, right click and save to download)

kimjihyun claims he had encountered harsh racism in Japan, and yet, he doesn’t remember exactly where. He just think it was Okinawa?…WTF?

Probably he thought he had encountered because of preconception he had about Japan.(though I still don’t understand why a tourist had to visit so many bathhouses because the hotel must have had a bath)

I think his “report”just goes to show how biased edcucation about Japan he received.

    hey! kimjihyun
forget about your experience. in the world, a lot of countries have tourist price. taxi driver, souvenir shop, blah, blah…
why don’t you go to korea for a few days and just speak chinese or english, if you can. do not speak korean. then, you realize what i said.
let back to talk about “atomic bomb drink”.

    Nou says:

“In some countries, foreigners get killed just because they are foreign. (Ex: Russia and Germany)
    you should not exaggerate.”

Did you ever think that perhaps the poster never spent much time in Russia or Germany?

You should not presume too much.

What disgusts me is that the movie was made to show the expression of the ambassador while the speaker made the remarks about the atomic bomb. It seems that not only the speaker but the TV station wants to humiliate him.

Hey i see that the link showing this vid has been removed due to “copyright infringement” Huh? It seems strange that a korean TV show can claim copyright to its shows but the same media can use whatever they want and you can buy virtualy any pirated goods we may desire, Shoes, dvds, computer programs, you name it korea has it and all on open display!
Seems that word got out that us foriegners were dishing korea again!

  11. comment number 11 by: terry66

oops that should read dissing! Oh and the korean who complained about racism and being charged more in okinawa? says that his gal pal who was with him is now living in america with no email address? WTF, everybody knows koreans are show switched on when it comes to the internet! what a pitiful excuse

i don’t think the poster stayed in Korea much, either.

They should have sawed off the ambassadors head and posted it back to Japan. It sends out a clearer message of disapproval.

That’s a pretty revolting thing for you to say. Are you a child, or do you really suffer from antisocial personality disorder?

Aah, quit hating on each other you guys. I never quite understood why all my Chinese and Korean friends have this thing against the Japanese and never really liked talking to them (the homegrown ones I mean, the British-Chinese/Japanese/Koreans don’t have much of an issue), I mean sure, there was the war and everything. But come on, that was like half a century ago. The Brits and the Germans are now like best friends, so why not you guys?

My father is half Burmese, but I don’t feel anything against the Japanese at all.

  16. comment number 16 by: Phred

Mind you, my post was aimed mainly at the Koreans and Chinese, cos it seems like Japan is trying to forget the past, but they are constantly reminded and criticised. But for how long can you criticise someone for the same thing? MOVE ON

That Japanese Ambassador’s forehead is so big that I don’t need to buy SONY 50″ TV to Watch Amuro Namie’s sex movie. muahahahahahaha

isnt even yours! why dont you go back to your english studies in america as im sure your a korean/american with too much time on his hands, better yet go back to korea and do your national service ya little creep!

  20. comment number 20 by: ponta

im sure your a korean/american with too much time on his hands

The obvious suspects in this would be a korean/american with too much time on his hands, though it isn’t entirely implausible that it could be others trying to make the “South” Koreans look bad.

Redskins84, you need to calm down. Seriously. This is the last warning.

  25. comment number 25 by: Redskins84

여기선 내가 뭘하든 내자유야. 너도 자유롭게 한국과 한국인들을 씹고 있잖아.

  28. comment number 28 by: Redskins84

it’s not true. there are rules to be kept for proper discussion. first of all, you should not use banmal because you don’t like his idea. making several short sentence posts (spamming) should also be avoided for the convenience of other readers. (I explain this because you seem to be 22 year old judging from your pseudo.)

you can get respect when you show respect to others.

  30. comment number 30 by: texasheat

i assumed that redskins84 is pure korean and not expected any composedly discussion. muhahaha!

  31. comment number 31 by: terry66

ponta i would agree with you about someone wanting to make koreans look bad, but he writes korean too well to be anything other than korean! anyway i dont judge all koreans by the way some act! I judge all people on how they come across, as im sure you do too!! There are too many real people out there without wasting time with losers like redskins84! and redskin you have repeated your lame insult about the sony 50in Tv twice in different posts here, why dont you come up with something original, like a samsung 50in Tv, oh thats right there wouldn`t be a samsung 50in TV if they hadn`t ripped off (or licensed) sony technology! Am i right or am i right?

  32. comment number 32 by: terry66

Oh and as for big heads! Damn ask any foriegner in korea and they will tell you that koreans have huge heads!! Maybe why they get so hot under the collar when they percieve anything negative that people say about korea!!

    My comment is irony.
1)I wanted Redskin to realize that his way of talking was making Koreans look bad.
2)The proposition (which I borrowed from Kushibo)holds true whenever someone speak ill of Korea, if so,I wondered what was the point in saying it except that he was desperately trying to save Korea’s face or he was trying to demoniize “others” .

When the Asian financial crisis occured in 1997, the IMF arranged $57 billion emergency financial packages to South Korea, included $17 billion Japanese contribution. U.S. and Japan have been contributed 24% of IMF’s total annual quotas, and 44% of United Nation’s total annual quotas (China 0.1%, Russia 0.7%). The future integration of North and South Korea, which known as “Korean’s earnest prayer”, how Korean will be able to manage their financial shortage situation without U.S. and Japanese supporting?
    This is a real world.

  35. comment number 35 by: terry66

ponta, irony only works on people who have a grasp of english and redskin certainly doesn`t!!

  36. comment number 36 by: terry66

texasheat, yep america, japan and many other countries bailed korea out ,along with many multinational companies! It wasn`t for nothing [email protected] sure these multinationals wanted to make money! but now the koreans are moaning that these companies are making too much money out of korea! It seems when times are tough korease there with its hand out but when things are ok, get out and dont try and make too much money here!!

  37. […] Forget about making rude comments about atomic bombings of Japan, and Dokdo panties that people cannot even see, make a subtle statement to the Japanese ambassdor with Dokdo Neckties! […]

  38. comment number 38 by: Capitalism

Well, the Japanese are making money off the Koreans…

thanks for buying our products.. As for the Koreans in the U.S., keep buying Japanese cars.. We don’t need your stupid Hyundai and Kia cars… Oh, I forgot, even Koreans themselves prefer Japanese cars over Korean cars…

Korea has no future… The economy already peaked as well. It even said that in the Korea Herald. Front page story…

Koreans also have no idea what their image is in the world…

  40. […] Oshima, the Japanese ambassador to Korea has had to deal with a lot from his counter parts in Korea. They really don’t treat him well; I would have gone home by now myself, but he’s a bigger man then me. But he looks pretty pissed in this article.
