Revenge of the flag biter

February 20th, 2006 . by Matt

flag biter
The Japanese flag is an acquired taste

It seems that Korean flag biter is continuing his unique brand of flag biting activism against Japan and has managed to gather support from a Korean citizens group.

On the 17th of Feburary, he took the campaign on a plane, where he made a bold statement that “Dokdo is our land” to Koreans that probably agree with him anyway. The writing in Chinese claims that pacifist Japan is a militarist country, and denounces worshipping at a certain shrine in Japan.

flag biter

On the 18th the flag biter took his campaign to the coast of Korea to protest ‘Takeshima Day’.

flag biter

The flag biter has scheduled other events this month, so I will keep readers updated on his activities. Next month he also plans to bite flags in Tokyo, Shimane prefecture, Mt. Fuji, and Tsushima (No, I am not joking).

The organization backing the flag biter (called Halbindang 할빈당) is also claiming that Tsushima Island, which is undisputed Japanese territory (undisputed by the Korean government) is Korean territory, along with Dokdo (Takeshima). This picture story from Empas shows a mangled Japanese flag along with a sign saying “Tsushima is our territory too!”

flag biter

I cant tell if the Japanese flag has been chewed to bits or burned. Since flag burning is illegal in South Korea, we should give them the benefit of the doubt and consider it chewed to bits.

Update: Never let it be said that I dont admit it when I am wrong. I wrote that we should be giving him the benefit of the doubt that he would stick to biting the flag, and not illegally burning the flag.

First the salt

Then add the red pepper

Lastly apply fire to the Japanese flag for a delicious Korean BBQ spicy Japanese flag meal

This is right in front of the Japanese consulate on the 20th – where are the police when there is an illegal flag burning? I wonder what is next, Japanese flag hot pot?

    Redskins84,

    In the process of drawing up the Peace Treaty, the US did not agree to the Korean Government’s request that Takeshima be included among the islands named in the treaty. The letter from Additional State Secretary Mr. Dean Rusk to the Ambassador of ROK in 1951 says;
”This normally uninhabited rock formation was according to our information never treated as part of Korea and, since about 1905, has been under the jurisdiction of the Oki Islands Branch Office of Shiname Prefecture of Japan. The island does not appear ever before to have been claimed by Korea”
Here is a link to the document http://www.geocities.jp/tanaka_kunitaka/takeshima/frus1951.gif

I just read his blogs and it was so funny. He need to go to a mental hospital.

It’s not worth reading the fxxxing book. why don’t you tell me about it. Anything that is pro korean, I’ll accept that as a lie because there’s no way there’s going to be anything positive about Korea. If there is one black dude who wrote a book claiming that “We should thank KuKluxKlan. Their behavior towards us actually teaches us some good lessons for being such a inferior race. They are not always bad. Our slavery era wasn’t such a badthing at all if you think carefully. We had good food and good life as a servant in the owner’s house” I wonder how would black people react to this.

When did Japan admit that island was Korea’s? When did the Japanese navy invade the island? You need to show historical evidence to back up your claim. Here is a link to a site explaining very well the evidence supporting Japan’s claim on Takeshima. http://www.geocities.jp/tanaka_kunitaka/Takeshima/
And, I hope you won’t dodge this important question anymore; Why is the Korean government ignoring the fishing agreement between Korea and Japan ?

It’s really no use to talking to Josenese on this issue-
they are so brainwashed by Anti-Japanese propaganda that their media and government constantly feed them. It must be so yummy, these Anti-Japanese lies, since NO Koreans who come here can understand that THEY are the ones believing crude paranoid lies about Japan, her past and present.

Josenese were slaves under Japanese colonial rule? Deprived of their resources and culture? This is one of the worst lies that the North and South Josen governments tell. It is so absurd but the fact is, only the Josenese accept this weird and flawed vision of history. God save their souls.

  8. comment number 8 by: Katz

If it belonged to Japan then it can say that Korea invaded it. If not, Why Japan is saying that Korea invaded it? Japan is the brainwashed here, they don’t have sense as if they had never suffered injustice socially. If so, they wouldn’t behave with this attitude. As I heard from someone, this is more symbolic than territorial. Let God judge then.

Read this if you can read Korean.

If Korea so believes in the legality of their ownership of Takeshima/Dokdo, please just come to the international court.

It’s so simple and something Korea can do NOW to shut them Japanese once and for all!!!!
    Yes!!!
Why do you hesitate doing so by giving stupid excuses???

Occupation of Takeshima/Dokdo by Korea in the current situation is nothing other than “Korea’s invasion of Japan”.
Shame on Korea for having double standards.
“It’s a sin for you to do X, but it’s okay as long as WE do X!!!”

As a Korean, you should persuade your government to go to the international court, instead of burning flags and symbols of Japan.

  16. comment number 16 by: Ell

    Redskin84, any comment on this?
Why are the Korean government avoiding the international court?

  17. comment number 17 by: Redskins84

One of the judge in international court is japanese. Everybody knows Japan is a political superpower country. International court is the only way they can have chance to take the land. Japan already made the trap for Korea. Why the F… would we go into the trap? Would you like to play Korea Vs Japan baseball game when the refree is Korean? You should remember what happened to japan when they played USA when the american was the refree.

  18. comment number 18 by: Ell

That’s the excuse I’ve been hearing for a long time, but the international court is not one judge court.
And no matter who the judge is, if Korea has a solid proof that Takeshima belongs to Korea and can prove it to the world, Korea will win. Korean government KNOWS that they do not have enough proof if they go to court.

    Furthermore,

Everybody knows Japan is a political superpower country.

    That’s a laugh.
If Japan was a political superpower, Japan would have armed itself with nuclear weapon by now since China and North Korea are pointing one at them and
Japan would already have pushed Koreans off the island, too.
Be realistic. Japan is politically wimpy and China and Korea have been happy of that fact until recently.

pathetically korean govt didn’t prove much. Korean people and news reporters did. by finding much revealed map as possible. Even the one that japanese emperor admitted dokdo was korean’s. It’s just lucky for you that we don’t have anybody smart in the govt office. But soon as we have the smart govt leaders in the office, we’ll be there. If you feel that unfair let the god judge. Your country have been controlling my country for long time but not forever. WHY? Because Japan didn’t meant to be controlling Korea forever as a colony. Whatever happens happens

Japan would already have pushed Koreans off the island, too.

Korean military is lot stronger than the past. You know what happened in 1920 in Korean freedom force fought Japanese army in Chinese mountain. There were way more number of Japanese soldiers than Korean freedom force. But they lost the battle BAD!! Korean general named Kim Jwa Jin was the one who was leading. You cannot laugh at us all the time.

Korean people and news reporters did. by finding much revealed map as possible.

Ooooh, goody. I do hope they’re authentic. Please usher in politicians who are willing to duke it out in the international court.
    I can’t wait.
I’m really sick of all the bickering the Korean government makes about the Japanese textbooks and want this thing settled once and for all.
As Japan has been to settle it in the international court, soon as Korea is ready, it can begin.

Your country have been controlling my country for long time but not forever.

Ahmmm…. You do realize Japan is not controlling your country at all now. What do you mean by forever?
And don’t worry. Japan has learned the lesson. Japan just cannot understand the “Han(grudge)” that the Koreans can keep seemingly forever. Japan would just like to have nothing to do with Korea.

Korean military is lot stronger than the past.

    Well, so there you go.
You proved yourself that Japan is not a political superpower.

Anyhow, I do hope you will talk to all your friends about the proofs Korea now has so they’ll support your politicians who are willing to put the facts to the international court. let’s get it settled once and for all so we can just go back to our seperate lives!!

Here is the original version of the map http://toron.pepper.jp/jp/take/image/scapinm.gif

You can see the title “SCAP administrative area”. The boundaries were to be utilized only for the administrative purposes of the occupation forces.

    Moreover, SCAPIN #677 states;

    6. Nothing in this directive shall be construed as an indication of Allied policy relating to the ultimate determination of the minor islands referred to in Article 8 of the Potsdam Declaration.

Do Korean historians really don’t know these facts, or do they intentionally distort facts?

Hey, i was living in pusan and later seoul when this takashima/dokdo issue first hit the fan and i was shocked at the level of histeria whipped up by the korean media/public schools/and government!
How can any right minded korean think that its ok to teach hate to children? I am married to a japanese woman and my korean students knew this and were disgusted at this! They kept asking how i could marry a japanese person as they “all stunk bad” and how evil japanese people were! I asked my students where they heard this and they all said from their teachers and from Tv!
Koreans i knew who had lived outside korea were actually great! they were more open and could admit that the situation was wrong! But not one of the others could! they were all brainwashed completely with all the bullsh*t. Some of my students were so brainwashed they actually believed that korea was a beautiful clean country (yeah right) much better than Japan! and some even said better and cleaner than my own country (NZ by the way) now its one thing to be nationalistic but god damn dont teach stupidity! After living in Korea for 2 years i went to live in japan and my god it was amazing! the air is nicer the sea amazing and you know what else people actually put trash into bins instead of throwing it on the street!!,the people actually friendly!! can you believe that!!
But after all is said and done i will go back to korea because it is an amazing country and i loved my studenst they were great somewhat misinformed but great, also i can honestly say that i never once felt threatened while in korea! shame the same couldn`t be said for other people i knew!
