Western female sex tourist recast as victims

February 2nd, 2008 . by Matt

So when western men go overseas and find younger lovers, to whom they pay money, it is called “sex tourism”, but when western women do it, they are called victims?

The Daily Mail from the UK has been printing a lot of these articles lately. Have a read of “I gave £100,000 to my Jamaican toyboy but now he’s gone back to his wife – taking my money with him”.

I’d argue that 100,000 pounds over six years is cheap for what she got (sex, romance and adventure). I pay the equivalent of 10 pounds at a club to buy a drink for some girl who I don’t know and will probably be talking to some other guy in a couple of minutes time every time I go out, without even thinking.

Think about it from the Jamaican guy’s point of view. He can barely survive on 17,000 pounds a year (which wasn’t given to him in cash, but in the form of airline tickets, dinner etc) so I hope he has a few women like her on the go at once.

The old adage “you can’t fool an honest man” which you used to explain Lockie’s actions in Sydney, going around lying to women in order to have sex with them, stealing from them and cheating them out of money, could be applied to this situation. If she was totally honest with her intentions then this would not have happened. I’d say there was a bit of bitterness involved towards her ex-husband, and maybe she wanted to get back at him.

I see very little difference between the woman and the Jamaican man. After all, she expected her ex-husband to finance romantic trips to Peru even after they were divorced.

I imagine there must be a lot of British “victims” in Kenya right about now.
